Traits of Today’s Home Buyer

The new survey out by American Lives for Builders magazine survey says that today’s home buyers are under the age of 45.  Two-thirds are married, and half have an annual household income of $75,000 or less.  The home buyers surveyed stressed their desire to live a simple lifestyle and 95 percent said the community was as important as the home, 69 percent stating that they’d consider a smaller home in the right neighborhood.  While they were concerned about energy efficiency, only 16 percent said they’d pay extra for recycled or renewable construction materials.
